Gates Pond Walk

After spending many years together living in Boston, Brian and I weren't sure how we would adjust to life in the suburbs living on a tiny, dead-end street. Would we miss the convenience of walking everywhere, our neighborhood green grocer or friends who were a few blocks or T-stop away? We did miss all of those things (and still do) and it took us a while to get used to the quiet and make some friends in town. But we found that our "downtown" was a short walk away and afforded us a few spots to grab dinner or a drink, a hardware store and gift shop and a rail trail and soon settled into our new neighborhood.

In the past 10 years our town has really evolved into a local restaurant hub, we have made some great friends and are becoming more active in our community. We have quick access to two cities and a Target within 5 minutes, but also to apple and horse farms, rivers, ponds that are only a few miles away. As our kids have gotten a bit older, we have really enjoyed taking advantage of the natural resources in the area to get out and be active with the kids.

One of our favorite activities is taking the kids for a hike around Gates Pond. The 2 mile loop around the pond has much to keep them occupied and interested including places to toss rocks in the pond, rocks to climb on and flat areas to let loose and run.

When we began organizing activities for 2016 to build awareness and support the Boomer Esiason foundation, we thought it would be good to try something new. A local shop owner suggested a Painting Party, intrigued we looked into it a bit more. We learned that you arrive at the studio and after picking your easel, you enjoy wine, snacks and conversation you lean how to pain the chosen project. Well it sounded like a great idea to us! Once the date was booked all that was left to do was to pick out a project for the evening. We left that up to Colin and he chose a project called Gates Pond Walk. Perfect considering how much fun we have there as a family.

We hope you will consider coming out to join us on March 2, 2016!
